Real Life Nursery School and Expansion
Real Life Nursery School opened its doors in 2002 to children 2 1/2 to 5 years of age, welcoming them into the world of the rural farm. A.R. Brouwer Co. was the designer/builder for the 10,000 square foot modern educational center in the heart of Canton’s expanding residential neighborhoods. Built on the site of Real Life Farm and Day Camp, the school appears to be a large farmhouse with a wraparound porch and a high mansard roof.
The building includes large, airy classrooms, wide hallways, easy access to the outdoors, a sick room, a full-service kitchen, and a storm shelter in the basement in case severe weather strikes. Real Life Nursery required A.R. Brouwer Co. to provide them with a building that would blend into the farm setting, allow the children to be nurtured in a safe and secure environment, and meet their budget requirements. A.R. Brouwer Co. delivered as promised, completing the project in 2002.
Real Life Nursery School’s business experienced steady growth over the next few years. To better serve the increasing population of young children, the owners felt it was time to construct an addition to the school. The project featured an enclosed 1,200 square foot walkway connecting the existing building to a new 5,800 square foot activities building, as well as a 3,100 square foot finished basement. This expansion was completed in Fall 2008.
