Steve holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and a Master of Science in Construction Engineering from the University of Michigan and has more than 35 years of industry experience. From 1985 to 1994, he worked as a project manager and estimator in commercial construction. In 1994, Steve was promoted to Director of Estimating and continued in this role until he founded A.R. Brouwer Company in 1998.

Steve continues to serve as President of A.R. Brouwer Company, located in Dexter, Michigan. He performs most of the sales, oversees the estimating work, and manages the firm.
